A recent late season nor’easter affecting the Atlantic coastline forced the Robinsons to make an unplanned stop at the Jarrett Bay docks:
Dear Management, My wife Carol and I have traveled the ICW top to bottom five times. We enjoy anchoring out (and the economy thereof) so rarely spend time in marinas. When a ferocious norther forced us to tie up at Jarrett Bay for security we were grumpy at first. But that night howling blasts of 50 knot winds confirmed the wisdom of our choice: we were safe on the floating dock despite the storm and forced to spend the next day by the gusty aftermath. But the best part of it all was meeting Bill. Not only did he share intimate knowledge of our Cape Cod home territory and some colorful anecdotes from his time diving for the NYPD, he organized a trip for us to Beaufort that salvaged what might have been a wasted day and made it a high point. To put the finishing touch on our stay he shared his poem about Goody Hallet and Black Sam Bellamy (historical figures in Cape Cod mythology who both figure in the historical novel that I’m currently writing). Suffice it to say that our feelings toward Jarrett Bay have grown warmer and more fond, indeed. We’ll make it a destination on our next trip. Sincerely,Robby Robinson
