The first thing I said when I saw the photo that’s gracing the cover of this issue of Marlin was “How the heck did Marc Montocchio do that?” He couldn’t have gotten that close riding in a helicopter, and there’s no boat wake at the bottom that would tell you he was using a telephoto from another vessel. So I had to call him up and ask. He graciously replied in an e-mail, which included one of the photos you see here. I immediately thought that we’d have to share another story of how Montocchio was out getting the shot, complementing the cool article of how he got last month’s cover of a free-swimming underwater blue marlin eating a teaser.
