The Jarrett Bay service yard has become the go-to facility for retrofit projects large and small. This retrofit is a little different, and one of our most exciting, well for our crew at least – many of whom had a hand in the boat’s original construction. This 54 foot custom sportfisher, formerly known as Shorter Pie and Pole Position, is Jarrett Bay’s 25th hull and now back under our ownership to showcase how we can give new life to an older pride and joy.
Hull 25 was splashed in the summer of 1999, and has served its previous owners well as she’s proven to be a fish raising machine! We’re excited to restore her new boat glow, with a few modern upgrades and cosmetic repairs. In an estimated two to three month timeframe, Hull 25 will be receiving major work on the exterior, interior, and in the engine room.
Starting in the engine room (perhaps the most exciting change), she’ll be repowered with Caterpillar’s brand new C12 prototype engines, said to deliver 1000bhp per unit! To our knowledge, our 25th hull will be the first boat in the U.S. to put these bad boys to the test. We will work side-by-side with our Jarrett Bay Marine Park partners at Gregory Poole CAT to run and evaluate the C12’s performance numbers for the first eight months to a year. We expect an overseas delivery of the engines to the U.S. sometime in early August. Most of the other major components in the engine room are fairly recent and will not need to be replaced.
Inside, we’re replacing most of the major structures of the salon and berths below by reconstructing with more modern and efficient materials. The entire salon will be renovated with granite countertops, new soft goods, a relocated entertainment area, modern appliances, and teak veneer has been chosen for all interior cabinetry and woodwork. Below, our master, VIP, and companionway bunks will all be rebuilt using updated materials. Each head will get new granite countertops and teak cabinetry for a stylish new look throughout.
Making our way to the outside, Hull 25 will be outfitted with new topside and hull paint, a new electronics package in the bridge, fresh teak on her covering boards and cockpit, and a new mezzanine setup, which will include plenty of seating and convenient drink/bait coolers.
Hull 25 will maintain her traditional Carolina Flare styling, but will splash with all of the modern upgrades and finishes of our most recent builds. We’re really pumped up for this one, and can’t wait to get her back in the water for what she was born to do, fish!
