Good Morning,
Day two of Hurricane Irene haul outs commenced at 7am this morning. We hauled approximately 43 vessels upon completion Tuesday. We are well on our way, but have at least 90 more vessels to haul in the next three days.
Yesterday went very well and we appreciate all of you and your cooperation. Everything went smoothly and we completed our last haul at approximately 6:50pm with a late arrival. Yesterday’s weather cooperated, but today will be much hotter and humid as the tropical wave reaches us later today and tomorrow. Please be patient! It can be a challenge for our team to stay hydrated during these 12 hours shifts.
Hurricane Irene has slowed somewhat but the winds are at 110mph and the hurricane is still expected to strengthen to a CAT 3 which is very significant. Most of the computer models are depending on a wave that is currently over Montana and Idaho arriving along the mid-Atlantic coast to steer Irene eastward. Timing is everything! A late arrival or weakening of this wave will cause Irene to come further west. Please do not gamble! We cannot depend on this wave. I would also prepare for heavy rain fall and flooding especially inland so many of our western customers may not be able to reach our facility for days after Irene passes. We will do everything in our power to contact you and notify you of any damage to your vessel.
We all know that next weekend is Labor Day and we recognize the value of being able to use our boats as much as possible but we may not be able to get everyone launched in time to enjoy your vessel next weekend. There will be other nice weekends so protecting your vessel and your family is the most important thing to do now.
